WHY INDIANS SEEK AMERICA

Many view this as a pandemic ruining India’s bright future and many accept ‘money’ being the cause of it. Much of the art, films try to preach this popular feeling to grab attention and with it money.

No one seem to care enough to find actual cause of this. To be fair there is no single reason why Indians love to leave for a life in America and this article doesn’t claim to identify every single reason nor does it claim to be the truth. It is an article of opinion.

So, why does young India love America. The better educated of Indians might agree with “better opportunities and better compensation”. Some might agree with “better education” and many other superficial reasons. Yes, superficial reasons because, even working class Indians seek America no matter their salary. The world sure agrees that students of Indian origin are among the brightest. So, what is the cause? Are these the only ones? Are Indians that blatant and money hungry?

No.

An average teenager in India who belongs to a decent earning family, goes to a private school, makes friends, gets freakishly crazy about cricket and movies and does good till average in studies.

Atleast that’s the generalized stereotype, not made by others in the world but Indians themselves. For some reason, Indian society strictly adheres to this stereotype and believes anything other than this normality is a potential for a bad life in the future.

But nobody in the Indian society cares to understand what an average teenager goes through.

An average teenager in India vs society:

They want to be adventurous, for the society that is WRONG!

They want to try something new with their future, which is again WRONG!

They want to have a teacher who imparts knowledge instead of harsh punishment, which is WRONG again.

They want to make their own decisions in life, a big NO NO!

They want exposure to the many flourishing industries in the world other than engineering and medicine, WRONG!

They have remarkably crazy ideas related to business or otherwise which they want to pursue, NEVER SHOULD YOU DO THAT.

They want to fall in love make it work, NO family and society will decide your life partner.

And so on and so forth…

When every single act or thought of freedom is marked with a supposedly “for the greater good agenda” working against them, the only thing left in their heads is to flee than fight.

Bear in mind, practically nothing is stopping them from being who they are but emotionally everything is.

“Failure and change” are viewed as harbingers of bad in Indian society.

The following are statistics from several individual surveys:

73% of Indians believe that there is no future in art or film industry.

According to Taj weding barometer, 83% of Indians have an arranged marriage though a whopping 78% fall in love.

There are nearly 3 Lakh IITJEE coaching institutes all over India.

77% of the schools believe that IITJEE coaching for a pupil is necessary at an age as young as 12 years.

32% of the young teenagers cannot name any other branches of study other than Engineering and Medicine.

For 54.7% of the population who are under the age of 24, there are 13780 engineering colleges but only 340(registered) institutes which teach film making, art or journalism.

72% of the IT companies in India are service oriented while only 6% are product oriented.

Only 32.6% of Indians believe in pursuing entrepreneurship.

58% of young females pursue higher studies abroad to escape the pressure of marriage.

37% of the Engineers work in an unrelated industry.

IT WAS NEVER ABOUT MONEY, IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT FREEDOM.

Other unrelated statistics:

67% of the journalists get their degree in the related field after starting a career in journalism.

A data analysis report found that, 93% of the movies released in the past 2 decades are strikingly similar in story, screenplay, dialogue or concept.
